Hazardous Materials Incident Commander
This course, designed and produced by Jim Braunstein, is designed for those emergency responders that are expected to be responsible for assuming command and control of resources operating at the scene of hazardous materials incidents and incidents involving weapons of mass destruction. Through classroom lecture, multimedia training aids and hands-on field exercises students who complete this program will be prepared to:
- Implement the employer’s incident command system
- Implement the employer’s emergency response plan
- Understand the risks associated with working in chemical protective clothing
- Implement the local state and federal regional emergency response plans
- Understand the importance of decontamination

The program is designed to provide first responders with the training required to take more aggressive measures in the response to hazardous materials incidents as well as weapons of mass destruction. Students learn through classroom lecture, multimedia training aids and hands-on field exercises how to actively protect people, property and the environment at the scene of hazardous material and weapons
