EMS RESPONSE TO TERRORISM

The events of September 11th 2001 have drawn a great deal of attention towards preparing EMS providers for response terrorist incidents. However, long before the tragedies of late, Bravo Zulu's president Jim Braunstein was conducting comprehensive training for the EMTs, paramedics and supervisors of the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Flushing Hospital Medical Center, and Brookdale University Hospital in New York.  His experience in EMS and law enforcement has made these programs both informative and practical.  Use of multimedia training aids and an interactive format make this program enlightening and relevant as
well as entertaining.

This course designed and produced by Jim Braunstein, is intended to prepare the student to:

  • Describe the threat of weapons of mass destruction
  • Take appropriate protective measures in accordance with employer’s policy and procedures
  • Identify signs and symptoms of nuclear, biological, and chemical poisoning
  • Recognize agent dissemination devices
  • Preserve the crime scene as best as possible without compromising safety of responders or care to victims
  • Describe proper Awareness Level or Operations Level response actions and treatment modalities as appropriate to the student’s on scene responsibilities

…and much more!
